Dr. Vincent McDonell joined
ILASS in 1988 as a graduate student and has served as a member
at large on the board since 2004. He assumed the Secretary position
in 2008. He feels ILASS offers the premier forum for interacting
with researchers and end-users in the area of sprays and brings
together a unique cross section of individuals. Vince has served
as Chair of the Spray Measurement and Instrumentation Technical
Committee, co-authored 26 ILASS articles (as of 2005) and been
responsible for many secretariat tasks including maintaining
the ILASS website.
Vince earned his Ph.D. in Mechanical Engineering from University
of California Irvine in 1990. He is currently the Associate Director
of the UCI Combustion Laboratory and maintains an appointment
as Adjunct Professor in the Department of Mechanical and Aerospace
Engineering of The Henry Samueli School of Engineering at UC
Irvine. In addition to his role in ILASS-Americas, he currently
serves on the board of directors for the Western States Section
of the Combustion Institute and is active in the American Society
of Mechanical Engineering’s International Gas Turbine Institute.
His work has been published in 50 archival peer reviewed publications
